Second Chance Families Project (SCFP) is a Virginia-based nonprofit founded by Kirsten Jay, whose own journey of recovery and navigating the child welfare system fuels our mission. We are committed to rebuilding and reunifying families affected by addiction, homelessness, and systemic obstacles—ensuring no parent fights alone for stability or the right to be with their children.
Our core belief is that addiction recovery and family reunification go hand in hand. Every parent in recovery deserves resources, dignity, and unwavering support. Through transitional housing, case management, transportation, and workforce readiness programs, we help families build a solid foundation and a brighter future together.
We provide holistic support for families in recovery, including transitional and long-term housing, personalized case management, transportation assistance, and workforce development. Each program is designed to remove barriers, foster stability, and champion family reunification in Virginia.

Safe, stable housing for parents exiting treatment, sober living, or homelessness—creating a strong foundation for successful reunification and lasting recovery.

Reliable transportation to work, treatment, and court appointments—addressing a critical but often overlooked barrier for families seeking stability.

Individualized case plans focused on recovery, mental health, parenting education, and collaboration with CPS, treatment centers, and community partners.

Job readiness training, resume building, and skill workshops to promote financial independence, resilience, and long-term self-sufficiency for families.
Second Chance Families Project empowers parents in recovery by offering transitional housing, case management, transportation, and job-readiness support that foster long-term stability and family reunification. We champion the principle that every parent deserves pathways—not punishment—and that healing and reunification are possible with the right resources and community support. Our mission is to ensure families overcome systemic barriers and thrive together, restoring hope and dignity across Virginia.
